PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Picking up a second sweep in as many matches, the Pace University volleyball team defeated Assumption College, 3-0, on Tuesday night at the Goldstein Fitness Center. The victory improves the Setters' record to 9-13 with a 3-4 mark in the conference. The Blue and Gold are now 5-1 at home this season.
Inside the Numbers
The start of a long homestand has been kind to senior
Sydney Lecker (Littleton, CO/Chatfield), who has led the team in kills for three-straight matches. Lecker registered 15 kills against the Greyhounds, the only Setter to eclipse double digits on the night. Junior
Claudia Fontanet (Bayamon, Puerto Rico/Academia Maria Reina) added nine put-aways for the Setters' attack.

Sophomore
Samantha Nidini (Houston, TX/Clearlake) had another great performance all over the court, recording 24 of Pace's 45 assists. Freshman
Nicole Pivetti (Modena, Italy/Liceo Wiligelmo) recorded 12 assists for the Blue and Gold.
It was sophomore
Danielle Vaiano (Seaford, NY/St. Anthony's) and Fontanet leading the defensive side for the Setters, recording 16 and 15 digs, respectively. Vaiano and freshman
Elien Peeters (Herdersem, Belgium/Onze Lieve Vrouwecollege) each had a service ace for Pace.
Set 1: Pace 25, Assumption 22
Pace fell into a quick 4-0 hole to start the opening set, and trailed for the first half of the opener. The Setters were eventually able to claw back and take a lead at 12-11, and would not trail again in the set until they fell behind 21-20. The Blue and Gold were able to gain a 23-21 edge, and were able to close out the set following a Greyhounds timeout. Lecker led the Setters with five kills, while sophomore Natalia Quinones added another four. Vaiano recorded seven digs in the frame, while Nidini tallied nine of her assists in the opener.

Set 2: Pace 25, Assumption 22
In the second close set, it was the Setters that jumped ahead early, opening up with a 5-1 lead. The Greyhounds refused to go quietly, quickly tying up the set at 6-6 before the two teams traded leads for the remainder of the frame. Knotted up at 22 apiece, Pace was able to recollect the serve and rattle off two points off the serve of Fontanet to put the set away. Lecker once again led the Blue and Gold with six kills. Nidini recorded six assists while Pivetti added another five. Lecker and Fontanet each had a team-leading six digs each in the set.

Set 3: Pace 25, Assumption 17
Pace was able to get some breathing room in the final set before ultimately walking away with the win. The Setters held leads of 10-4 and 14-8 in the set, and never trailed outside of the opening point. The Greyhounds were able to pull in close, bringing the score to 21-17, but Pace responded with four straight points to finish the match. Lecker, Fontanet, and Peeters tallied four kills each in the final frame. Vaiano and Fontanet added six digs apiece, while Nidini closed out the night with nine more assists.
