PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – After taking a 3-0 loss earlier in the season to Holy Family University, the Pace University women's volleyball team found redemption Thursday evening at the Goldstein Fitness Center, shutting out the Tigers, 3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1
- It appeared the Setters might struggle in Thursday's match, as they fell behind, 7-4, early in the first set, but they bounced back to quickly tie it up.
- Pace fell behind, 19-17, late in the set, but rallied to take a 24-22 edge.
- The Tigers scored the next two points to tie it up, but Pace quickly took the final two points of the set to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
SET 2
- Pace gained a lot of early momentum after a five-point run gave the Setters a 7-4 lead.
- Later, a four-point stretch made it 16-9, and another pushed the lead to 23-14 before the Setters claimed a 25-15 win and a 2-0 lead on the night.
SET 3
- Pace ran out to a 10-4 lead and took full control of the third game early on.
- After a timeout, Holy Family flipped the switch with five straight points to get back within one.
- After taking a 15-13 lead, the Setters took the next five points in the match to distance themselves from their guests.
- Another five-point run for the Tigers made it a one-point match at 21-20, forcing the Setters to call timeout.
- The timeout did the trick, as Pace regrouped and took the final four points to claim the match.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Junior
Amy Vicic (Surrey, British Columbia/Earl Marriott) led the Setters with nine kills on the evening.
- Sophomores
Claudia Fontanet (Bayamon, Puerto Rico/Academia Maria Reina) and
Kathleen Benson (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) each tallied seven kills, while Fontanet added 10 digs.
- Freshman
Samantha Nidini (Houston, TX/Clearlake) dished out 24 assists and was second on the floor with 15 digs.
- Freshman
Danielle Vaiano (Seaford, NY/St. Anthony's) had a match-high 16 digs.
- Freshman
Tatjana Calimpong-Burke (Waianae, HI/Iolani) led the team with two blocks and also picked up seven digs.

WHAT A DIFFERENCE A YEAR MAKES
- Thursday's victory was the Setters' 12th of the season.
- Pace picked up its 12th win in 2015 on Nov. 3.
UP NEXT
- The Setters get the weekend off before welcoming American International College to the Goldstein Fitness Center on Tuesday, Oct. 4, for a Northeast-10 Conference matchup. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
