PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Sophomore
Claudia Fontanet (Bayamon, Puerto Rico/Academia Maria Reina) surpassed the 500-kill milestone on Tuesday while leading the Pace University women's volleyball team to a four-set victory over Molloy College in non-conference action at the Goldstein Fitness Center. She totaled 17 kills and 14 digs for her 13th double-double of the season, leaving her with a total of 515 career kills.

Pace 3, Molloy 1 (25-19, 25-23, 19-25, 25-18)
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1
- Pace quickly took control of the game, running out to a 10-5 lead to force Molloy to call a timeout.
- Leading 15-11, the Setters put together four straight points to take a comfortable 19-11 advantage, but a timeout helped the Lions regroup and get back within five at 21-16.
- That was as close as the Lions would get, as the Setters finished up the set with a 25-19 win.
SET 2
- Molloy flipped the script in the second frame, taking an early 11-5 lead after a five-point run..
- A four-point stretch for the Setters turned things around, getting them back within one at 14-13.
- Both teams traded leads until the Setters took a 24-22 advantage late in the game.
- Molloy kept the set going with its 23rd point, but the Setters stopped things there by taking the next one for a 25-23 win and a 2-0 lead in the match.
SET 3
- Molloy regained its earlier momentum to lead for nearly the entire third set.
- A 19-11 lead later on proved to be too much to overcome, leading to a 25-19 win for the Lions to keep the match going.
SET 4
- The Setters lost an early lead in the fourth set, as the score was tied, 9-9.
- It was later tied again at 12-12 before Pace scored four in a row to take a 16-12 advantage.
- Leading 18-15, Pace strung together another four points to start running away with the match.
- Molloy got within five again, but kills by sophomore
Kathleen Benson (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) and junior
Sydney Lecker (Littleton, CO/Chatfield) put the match away.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Fontanet's 17 kills led all players for the night.
- Lecker threw down 11 kills and added nine digs.
- Benson eight kills and five solo blocks in the win.

Tatjana Calimpong-Burke (Waianae, HI/Iolani) matched Benson with eight kills on the evening.

Samantha Nidini (Houston, TX/Clearlake) had a double-double, tying for match-highs with 43 assists and 17 digs.

UP NEXT
- The Setters head into a crucial weekend of conference play, but will have home-court advantage.
- Stonehill College visits the Goldstein Fitness Center on Friday, Oct. 21, for a 7 p.m. NE-10 match.
- The Setters will then host Bentley University on Saturday, Oct. 22, for a 1 p.m. contest.
- Saturday's match will be Pace's annual Dig Pink match, where Pace's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will be accepting donations for the Breast Institute at Northern Westchester Hospital. Pace Goes Pink "Playing for a Cure" t-shirts will be given to those who make a donation.
