Dodge Registers Third Straight Double-Double as Pace Women’s Basketball Falls to Saint Anselm

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Junior Kirsten Dodge (Fabius, NY/Fabius-Pompey) registered her third consecutive double-double on Wednesday, but the Pace University women's basketball team fell to Saint Anselm College, 69-44, in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup at the Goldstein Fitness Center. The Setters' record falls to 8-7 overall, 3-4 NE-10 in the loss, while the Hawks improve to 7-5, 4-4 NE-10.
 
Dodge led the Setters with 12 points and 12 rebounds, while also finishing with three blocks. She is averaging 10.3 points and 11.8 rebounds over her last four games, and has also recorded two-or-more blocks in each of her last seven contests.
 
The Setters struggled scoring early on as Saint Anselm ended the first quarter with a 16-8 advantage. The Hawks started the second period with a layup by Emma Daly at the 9:46 to take a double-digit advantage. Freshman Brianna Nickson (Haledon, NJ/Passaic County Technical) knocked down a three with 3:58 remaining in the first half to cut the Hawks' lead to 27-16. The Hawks went on to take a 34-24 advantage at halftime.
 
The Hawks continued their run in the third quarter, outscoring the Setters, 23-8. The scoring was even in the fourth as both teams scored 12 points in the final period, but it was not enough as Pace fell, 69-44.
 
Freshman Alexandra Monteleone (Cold Spring, NY/Haldane) finished with seven points, while Nickson tallied six points, three rebounds and two assists. Sophomore Gabriella Rubin (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) handed out a team-best four assists.
 
Saint Anselm's Ali Glennon registered 14 points and four rebounds, while Candace Andrews added 13 points, five rebounds and dished out a game-high eight assists.
 
The Setters return to action Saturday, Jan. 9, when they welcome Merrimack College to the Goldstein Fitness Center for a Northeast-10 Conference showdown. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
