GARDEN CITY, NY- The Pace Softball team dropped a doubleheader against the Adelphi University Panthers, falling 4-0 and 9-1. The Setters fall to 14-8 overall and 6-4 in the NE-10 Southwest Division, while the Panthers improve to 14-14 and 7-3 in division play.
The Setters were limited to four hits in the opener as
Larissa Labs had the only extra base hit with a first inning triple. Starter
Caitlin McCann went the first three innings, allowing three runs on five hits and struck out two to fall to 5-3 on the season.
Kaitlynn Nelson came on in relief for the final three innings, allowing one run on three hits and struck out two.
In the nightcap, Adelphi scored nine runs in the opening inning. The Setters got their run in the third as
Joyce LaBonte singled to lead off the inning.
Victoria Quinones and
Jeane Drury drew walks to load the bases. Labs hit a sacrifice fly to score LaBonte.
Jaclyn Flores starts, going 2/3 of an inning, allowing eight runs on five hits to fall to 3-2 on the season Nelson tossed 3 1/3 innings in relief, allowing one run on five hits and struck out two.
The Setters return home to host the Southern Connecticut St. Owls in an NE-10 SW doubleheader at 3 pm on the Pace Briarcliff campus.
