GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – The Setters fell to Adelphi in Northeast-10 Conference action by a score of 3-0 on Wednesday. Following the loss, Pace falls to 16-15, 9-5 NE-10 Southwest while Adelphi advances to 14-14, 7-4 NE-10 Southwest.
Senior
Jonathan Chudy got the nod on the mound and set the Panthers down in order in the first inning.
In the second,
John Kukura drew a leadoff walk, and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt, but was unable to cross the plate as back-to-back outs ended the frame.
Trailing 3-0 in the fifth,
Cory Capaldi began the inning with a leadoff double to left center. However, the Panthers ended the threat after forcing a groundout and a pair of strikeouts.
In the seventh,
Nick LoBello started the inning with a leadoff double, extending his hitting streak to ten straight games.
Mayo and LoBello each went 1-4 while Capaldi went 1-2.
Chudy (3-4) took the loss after tossing four innings, allowing just one earned run on six hits with a pair of strikeouts.
Dylan Mouzakes was again solid out of the pen. He tossed four innings and allowed no runs on just four hits with four strikeouts.
The Setters return to the field on Saturday when they travel to Bridgeport, Conn. to face Bridgeport at 11:00 a.m.
