MELBOURNE, FL – The Setters rounded out their Florida trip with a loss at Florida Tech on Sunday by a score of 14-1. With the loss, Pace falls to 0-4 while the Panthers advance to 9-0.
The Panthers got off to a quick start after scoring six runs in the opening inning. After FIT added three more runs over the next three innings, senior shortstop
Brett Bittiger put the Setters on the board with an RBI groundout in the fifth. The Setters were held to just three hits as senior catcher
Tom Midolo roped a double and scored the only run of the game for Pace.
On the rubber,
Josh Garran took the loss after allowing five earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts on 2.2 innings pitched.
Michael Forgione and
Ryan Aquino each came on in relief and allowed three earned runs apiece. Freshman
Jake Amoroso entered in the eighth and tossed a perfect inning, adding a pair of strikeouts.
The Setters return to the diamond on Friday, February 27
th when they begin a three-game series against Bentley in Silver Lake Park.
