MANSFIELD, Mass. – Senior safety
Jamir Gee (Paterson, NJ/Monroe College) and freshman offensive lineman
Jarred Sylvester (Clayton, NJ/Clayton) of the Pace University football team will each represent the Setters on the 2015 Northeast-10 All-Conference Football Teams, as announced by the conference office on Friday. Gee was named to the First Team as a defensive back and the Second Team as a return specialist. Sylvester earned his first All-Conference honor by being picked for the All-Rookie Team.
Gee piled up 67 total tackles throughout the year, good for 20th amongst NE-10 defenders. He added two interceptions and two fumble recoveries while racking up two sacks. Both sacks, as well as seven total tackles came against Bentley, and he recovered a fumble and intercepted a pass later in the year on the road against Merrimack.
As a return specialist, Gee led the conference in both kick return and punt return yardage with 769 yards and 250 yards, respectively. He added one touchdown from each as well. He scored the first-ever points at the brand new Pace Stadium in the home-opening victory over Ave Maria, returning a punt 48 yards to the house. Two weeks later, on the road against Stonehill, Gee took a kick return to the end zone from 95 yards out. He ended that contest with 250 all-purpose yards.
Down the stretch, Gee got involved in the rushing attack for the Setters as well. In the team's final three games, he turned 17 carries into 90 yards. He earned two NE-10 Special Teams Player of the Week awards, as well as a pair of ECAC Special Teams Player of the Week honors. He was also named Homecoming MVP for after returning an interception 39 yards and piling up seven tackles in a loss to LIU Post.
Sylvester was a mainstay on the offensive line this season, playing in eight games. He was a key factor in the success of the Pace running game that ranked fifth in the conference with 159.8 yards per game. He also contributed to an improved Pace pass block that allowed nine less sacks than the year prior.
Northeast-10 Championship Weekend, during which Pace played Saint Anselm, represented the end of the season for the Pace Football team. The Setters completed their first-ever season at the brand new Pace Stadium, which will feature even more upgrades and renovations, including the completion of the Ianniello Field House, come the start of the 2016 campaign.
