NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior tailback
Valentino Miles (San Francisco, CA/Sacred Heart/Laney College) took a screen pass from freshman quarterback
Dan Anerella (Old Bridge, NJ/Manalapan) 34 yards to the house to open the scoring in Saturday's matchup at Southern Connecticut State University, but the Pace University football team ultimately fell to the Owls in Northeast-10 Conference action, 21-7.
The Setters went 12 plays and 73 yards on their second drive to take a 7-0 lead with 5:23 to go in the first quarter. Anerella passed it to Miles toward the left sideline, where he found space and took it the distance on a third-and-10 to put Pace up by a touchdown. The Setters held onto the 7-0 advantage through the first three quarters.
The Owls opened the fourth quarter already down at the Pace 38-yard line. The drive capped off with a 26-yard touchdown pass from Raymond Catapano to Devante Jenkins to get the home back within a point. The Setters caught a break on the extra point, as it was fumbled by the holder, keeping Pace up by one.
On Southern Connecticut's next drive, Catapano and Jenkins hooked up once again on a 28 yard pass to put the Owls up for the first time in the game. The Owls followed the score up with a successful two-point conversion, taking a 14-7 lead with 8:30 to play. The Owls held the Setters off the board on the next possession, and turned the ensuing drive into another score on a Robert Thomas 10-yard run to put the home team up by the eventual final score of 21-7.

Michael Scotman (White Plains, NY/White Plains) led the Setters with 92 yards on 23 carries. Miles totaled two catches for 43 yards, including his 34-yard catch and run in the first quarter. Junior wideout
