Women's Basketball Falls to Franklin Pierce

RINDGE, N.H. – The Pace University Women's Basketball squad fell to Franklin Pierce on the road Wednesday by a final score of 65-57. With the loss, the Setters fall to 8-10, 3-8 NE-10 while the Ravens improve to 10-4, 8-3 NE-10.

The Setters jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the game after senior Margo Hackett splashed a triple in the opening minute of play. Then, less than a minute later, Hackett again scored, this time on a layup to spark a 6-2 run for Pace. The Raven offense fired back to claim a five point lead until freshman Geena Rosalbo halted the comeback on a layup with 12:06 remaining in the half. Trailing by 11 with 4:33 left in the opening period, junior Yuni Sher went to the stripe and converted a pair of free throws. After a late Franklin Pierce rally, Pace entered the locker room trailing by 15 at the break.

The Ravens stretched the lead to 18 points early in the second half, but the Setters answered with five straight points after Rachel Dortch hit a jumper that was followed by a Hackett three. Trailing by 15 with 12:52 remaining, senior Jaclyn Oskam connected from deep. The key triple was followed immediately by a pair of Hackett free throws and a jump shot by sophomore Kirsten Dodge to cut the deficit to just eight. Minutes later, Oskam again converted from distance to bring Pace within seven points. After the Ravens pulled back up by double digits, Alexa Dietrich went 2-2 on a trip to the free throw line, and freshman Gabriella Rubin sunk a layup to cut the Pierce advantage to six. However, that was as close as the Setters would come as they dropped the contest 65-57.

Hackett led Pace in scoring with 14 points, adding two rebounds and two blocks. Oskam contributed ten points with seven rebounds while G. Rubin scored eight points with three rebounds and four assists.

The Setters return to action on Saturday when they host St. Michael's in the Goldstein Fitness Center at 1:30 p.m.
