SYRACUSE, NY -
James Pjura (Shelton, CT/Shelton) (Shelton, CT/Shelton) and
Alexander Rough (Stamford, CT/Westhill) (Stamford, CT/Westhill) each homered for the Pace University baseball team, but a walkoff homerun in the bottom of the 10th inning lifted the Le Moyne Dolphins to a 4-3 victory against the Setters in a Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division contest.
Pace is now 8-16 on the season with a 3-11 mark in the NE-10 and is 2-4 in the Southwest Division.
Trailing 2-0 heading into the top of the sixth, the Setters cracked the scoreboard as David Pepe (Caldwell, NJ/James Caldwell) (Caldwell, NJ/James Caldwell) led off with a single to left. Pjura came up next and smacked a two-run homer to right-center, tying the game at 2-2.
Pace wasted no time in claiming the lead as after
Dylan Mouzakes (Dix Hills, NY/Half Hollow Hills) held Le Moyne scoreless in the bottom of the sixth, Rough led off the top of the seventh with his first homerun of the season to give the Setters a 3-2 lead.
The Dolphins scored in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game at 3-3. It would remain that way until the bottom of the 10th when with two outs, Nate Reynolds hit a solo homerun to give Le Moyne the win.
On the mound, Mouzakes was strong, giving the Setters 4.2 scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
Pace returns to action on Tuesday with a key Southwest Division clash at Adelphi. First pitch is slated for 3:30 pm.
