PLEASANTVILLE, NY – Freshman Shanice Allen (Riverhead, NY/Riverhead) (Riverhead, NY/Riverhead) scored a game-high 17 points and pulled in a career-high eight rebounds, but the Pace University women's basketball team fell to the Le Moyne Dolphins 55-45 in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup.
Fellow freshman and reigning NE-10 Rookie of the Week Kirsten Dodge (Fabius, NY/Fabius-Pompey) (Fabius, NY/Fabius-Pompey) scored 13 points while netting career-highs with 15 points and four blocks.
The Dolphins (14-12, 10-10 NE-10) jumped out to a 18-9 lead just more than 12 minutes into the first half before the Setters (6-20 , 5-15 NE-10) rallied. A three-pointer by Allen with 6:37 remaining in the frame sparked an 11-2 run during the next 2:33 as triples from juniors Shanice Maynard (Camden, NJ/Woodrow Wilson / Coppin State) (Camden, NJ/Woodrow Wilson) and Margo Hackett (Pawling, NY/Pawling) (Pawling, NY/Pawling) led to a layup by Dodge that tied the score at 20-20. Le Moyne scored the final six points of the half to take a 26-20 lead into the locker room.
After the Dolphins opened up a 31-22 lead a minute into the second half, Pace scored the next six as a pair of buckets by Allen sandwiched a layup by freshman Loren Kaiser (Stewartsville, NJ/Phillipsburg) to slice the lead to three. That was as close as the Setters would get, however, as Le Moyne pulled away for the win.
The game concluded the women's basketball team season.
