Mike Demello netted a career-high 19 points as he helped lead the Setters in a come from behind 66-61 victory over the Queens Knights in non-conference action.
The Setters improve to 3-7 overall, while the Knights fall to 0-6 on the season.
The Setters built a 20-14 lead near the midway point of the opening half. The Knights chipped away, pulling even at 24 with 6:15 left in the half. The teams traded baskets with Queens taking a brief lead before Demello connected on a triple to pull even at 30. The Knights pushed ahead late in the half to lead 33-30 at halftime.
Pace netted the first four points of the second half as
Kyle Pearson and
Bryan Rivers netted four points to put the Setters up one. The Knights retook the lead and pushed ahead to as much a eight points at 49-41 midway through the second half.
The Setters chipped away, slicing it down to 53-51 with 5:47 left in the game. The Knights pushed it back to six points two minutes later but Pace rallied back as they pulled even with 1:43 on the clock on a Pearson put back to knot the score at 60 all.
Shelton Mickell put the Setters in front for good with a lay-up, while Rivers (2-for-2), Pearson and
Demello added one from the line in the final minute to seal the victory.
For the Setters, Demello led the way with his career-high, while Pearson netted a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Mickell finished with 11 points and three rebounds, while Rivers totaled 11 points and four boards.
The Setters host the American International Yellow Jackets on Saturday, December 13 at 3:30 pm at the Goldstein Fitness Center.
