Sher Scores Career-High 18 Points in Loss Against Le Moyne

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Junior forward Yuni Sher netted 18 points and a team-best six rebounds in Saturday's 69-67 loss against Le Moyne. With the loss, the Setters drop to 2-6, 1-4 NE-10 while the Le Moyne Dolphins advance to 6-2, 2-2 NE-10.

After falling behind 5-0 in the first two minutes of play, freshman Gabriella Rubin scored a basket that ignited a flurry of back-and-forth points for both squads. Each team scored on their next three possessions to force action to 12-8 in favor of the Dolphins. Pace scored the next seven points to take a three point lead behind a Rubin triple and a pair of layups by Sher and Geena Rosalbo. Le Moyne cut the run short and netted the next 11 points until senior Jaclyn Oskam halted the rally with a midrange jumper. The Dolphins went on a tear down the stretch to take a 38-23 lead into the locker room.

Rubin scored the first points of the half for the Setters when she banked in a layup at the 18:18 mark that cut the Dolphin lead to 43-23. On the next Pace possession, junior forward Rachel Dortch connected on a layup, drew the foul, and hit the free throw to complete the and-one. Trailing by 18 with 12:51 remaining, Rubin connected on a pair of attempts from the charity stripe to spark an 8-2 run for Pace that was capped off by a pair of Margo Hackett free throws.

Pace trailed by 16 with 4:37 remaining when the Setters began the ferocious comeback. Hackett and Sher connected on four free throws in the next two Pace possessions that cut the Dolphin advantage to 12. After a pair of Dolphin free throws, it was Sher and Hackett again combining for the next six points in the game. The Setters trailed by nine with 1:16 remaining when Rubin nailed a clutch shot from downtown that forced the score to 66-60. Le Moyne advanced the lead to seven points with 18 seconds remaining when Hackett hit a layup that cut it to five. Just 15 seconds later, Rosalbo hoisted a three-point attempt that landed and cut the lead to just two points with 2.6 seconds remaining. After a Pace foul, the Dolphins advanced to the free throw line and missed the pair, but secured the offensive rebound and ran out the clock to win the game.

Sher also tied for a team-best three assists. Rubin recorded 14 points with four rebounds and three assists while Hackett registered eight points, three rebounds, three assists, and a pair of steals. Dortch and Rosalbo each added nine points apiece. As a team, the Setters shot 95.5% (21-22) from the free throw line.

Pace returns to action next Saturday December 13 when they host NE-10 rival American Int'l in the Goldstein Fitness Center.
