Shelton Mickell totaled a game-high 18 points as the Pace Men's Basketball team fell to The Lincoln University Lions 61-49 in non-conference play.

The Setters fall to 3-9 overall, while the Lions improve to 6-4 on the season.

Pace built a 15-9 lead in the first five minutes of play as the Setters found the early touch from downtown. Mickell,
Kyle Pearson and
Mike Demello each connected from the outside, while Pearson bookended the run with buckets to help Pace jump out to an early advantage. Â

The Lions netted the next six points to pull even at 15 and the score remained within one possession the rest of the half. The teams traded leads six times with Lincoln netting the final points with under a minute to play to lead a 28-26 lead into the break.

Lincoln extended their lead to eight points early in the second but a Mickell triple at the 13:08 mark sliced the score down to five at 38-33. The Lions pushed ahead by nine points but the Setters again made a run to close to within five points. Mickell's layup at the 5:28 mark cut the score down to five points at 46-41 but Lincoln extended their lead to as much as 12 points late in the game. The Setters got as close as eight points in the final two minute but the Lions connected on 3-for-4 at the line in the final 50 seconds of play.

For the Setters, Mickell led the way with 18 points along with a pair of steals, while Pearson posted 11 points and nine rebounds. Demello drained all eight of his free throws, finishing with 11 points, three assists and three steals.
The Setters have a day off before hosting the Concordia College Clippers on Saturday, December 20 at 3:30 pm. Â Â
