PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. –
Brittani Muller registered eight kills, a .600 hitting percentage, an ace, and a pair of blocks but the Pace Volleyball team was edged by the visiting Mercy Mavericks 25-21, 25-23, 25-13 in non-conference action on Saturday morning.
Pace (3-11, 0-3 NE-10) started off hot taking a 14-9 lead in the first set, thanks to a trio of kills by
Samantha Marquez, before Mercy (4-12, 0-6 ECC) went on to score nine of the next 10 points to take an 18-15 lead and eventually win the first set.
The Setters took a 21-19 lead in a back and forth second set, but would eventually fall as the Mavericks went on to take six of the next eight points to win the set 25-23.
Junior
Alyssa Marchino tied a team-high with eight kills, adding 11 digs and an ace. Junior
Rebecca Italiano posted 12 digs while sophomore
Miki Carver contributed 13 assists.
The Setters are back in action on Tuesday, October 7th with a matchup against Northeast-10 Conference opponent American International at 7:00 p.m.
