WORCESTER, MA- Shanice Allen (Riverhead, NY/Riverhead) (Riverhead, NY/Riverhead) scored 21 points but the Setters fell to the Greyhounds of Assumption College 64-55 in Northeast-10 Conference action.
The Setters fall to 4-15 overall and 3-10 in the NE-10, while the Greyhounds improve to 12-6 and 8-5 in conference play.
The Greyhounds jumped out to an early 6-0 lead but the Setters battled back eventually tying the score at 12 on a jumper by Shanice Maynard (Camden, NJ/Woodrow Wilson / Coppin State) (Camden, NJ/Woodrow Wilson) at the 13:36 mark of the half. Assumption pulled ahead by three points at 17-14 but Pace answered with an 11-0 run.
Allen scored nine of Pace's 11 points in the rally, including a triple, while Alexa Dietrich (Queens, NY/Archbishop Molloy) (Queens, NY/Archbishop Molloy) capped it with a basket at the 7:33 mark to give the Setters a 25-17 lead. Assumption closed the gap in the half as they connected on five three-pointers in the final six and half minutes as they took a 36-33 lead into halftime.
Assumption extended their lead into the second half as they pulled ahead to a 43-36 lead five minutes into half. The Setters chipped away as they closed to within a point at 49-48 with 9:40 remaining in the game. The Greyhounds answered with a 7-0 to extend to an eight point lead at the 7:11 mark. Pace got as close as four points down the stretch but the Greyhounds held off the Setters for the win.
For Pace, Allen led the way with 21 points and four rebounds on 8-for-12 shooting. Maynard chipped in 10 points and five boards, while Kirsten Dodge (Fabius, NY/Fabius-Pompey) totaled 10 points and five rebounds.
The Setters return home on Saturday, February 1 as they will host national #1 Bentley University in a NE-10 clash at 1:30 pm at the Goldstein Fitness Center.
