PLEASANTVILLE, NY- The Setters opened Northeast-10 Conference play as they fell to the University of New Haven Chargers 65-0. Pace falls to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the NE-10, while the Chargers improve to 1-1 and 1-0 in conference play.
The Chargers jumped out to a first half lead behind four touchdowns passes from quarterback Ronnie Nelson. Running back Mike DeCaro caught a pair of touchdowns and rushed for another in the first half. Michael Flacco also caught two touchdowns for the Chargers.
For the Setters, freshman running back Delaney Wallace (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) (Moorestown NJ, Moorestown) rushed for 21 yards, while freshman quarterback Antwan Washington (Belle Glade, FL/Glades Central) (Belle Glade, FL/Glades Central) tossed for 171 yards and rushed for 15 yards on the ground. Sherrod Ford-Cherry (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South) (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South) was the Setters' leading receiver with five receptions for 58 yards, while Kyle Johnson (Elmont, NY/Elmont Memorial) (Elmont, NY/Elmont Memorial) caught five passes for 57 yards. Joe Camilleri (Saddle Brook, NJ/Saddle Brook) (Saddle Brook, NJ / Saddle Brook) led the Setters defense with six tackles.
The Setters return to action next Saturday for their home opener as they will host the Yellow Jackets of American International. Kick-off for Saturday's game is at 1 pm and will feature Military Appreciation Day. All service men and women will receive free admission and will be recognized prior to kick-off. In addition, Pace Wayfarer sunglass will be given out to Pace students on a first come first serve basis and the Pace University Drum Line will perform at halftime.
