Softball Loses to Le Moyne in Season Finale

SYRACUSE, N.Y.- The Pace softball team dropped a doubleheader to the Dolphins of Le Moyne College, falling in the opener 4-3 and fell in the nightcap 9-1 in six innings. The Setters finish their season at 14-24 overall and 6-15 in the Northeast-10 Southwest Division, while the Dolphins improve to 21-20 and 11-10 in division play.

In the opener, the Setters jumped out to a 3-0 lead early in the game. Natalie Gellos (Seattle, WA/Holy Names Academy) (Seattle, WA/Holy Names Academy) had a sacrifice fly in the opening inning while Samantha Garcia (Rancho Cucamonga, CA/Rancho Cucamonga) (Rancho Cucamonga, CA/Rancho Cucamonga) added an RBI single in the inning. Pace added a run in the fourth to take a three-run lead. The Dolphins rallied with one run in the fourth and hit two homeruns in the fifth as they scored three runs to pull into the lead to take game one 4-3.

For Pace, Garcia went 2-for-3 in the game to lead the Setters. On the mound, Chelsea Shea (Babylon, NY/West Babylon) (Babylon, NY/West Babylon) tossed a complete game, allowing four runs on seven hits and struck out one to finish her season at 8-12.

In the nightcap, the Dolphins took a 3-0 lead with two runs in the first and one in the third. Garcia drove in the lone Pace run with a groundout in the fourth. Le Moyne rallied with six runs in the six take the second game 9-1.

In the nightcap, Jeane Drury (Flanders, NJ/Morris Catholic High School) (Flanders, NJ/Morris Catholic) went 3-for-3 with two doubles and a stolen base. On the hill, Kelly Fisher (Castle Rock, CO/Douglas County) went the distance on the mound as she allowed nine runs (four earned) on nine hits and struck out four to fall to 5-9 on the season.
