Setters down the Mavericks of Mercy College, 6-0

Pleasantville, N.Y.-The Setters opened up and closed the game with homeruns to take the win over Mercy College, 6-0 in non-conference action.  The Setters advance to 1-3 overall while the Mavericks fall to 0-1 on the season.

James Pjura (Shelton, CT/Shelton) (Shelton, CT / Shelton) homered to left center to open up the scoring in the 2nd inning.  Joe Solemeno (Holbrook , NY / Sachem East) popped up to 2nd base for the first out but the pitched walked Jon Kovel (Schenectady, NY/Scotia Glenville) (Schenectady, NY / Scotia Glenville). Ian Wukitsch (Morristown, NJ/Morristown) (Morristown, NJ / Morristown) doubled but eventually got caught stealing home for the second out before the Mavericks made the third a strike-out to end the inning. 

The scoreboard was stuck at 1-0 for the next four innings before Kovel doubled to bring Solomeno home to make the score 2-0. 

Charlie Galasso (West Harrison, NY/Harrison) (West Harrison, NY / Harrison) doubled down the left-field line before he made it to third base on a sacrifice fly to centerfield.  Galasso ended up scoring on a wild pitch to advance the Setters lead to 3-0.

The Setters gained a second wind in the 9th inning.  Bobby Horn (Stamford, CT/Westhill) (Stamford, CT / Westhill) singled to shortstop and then advanced on a wild pitch before advancing to third on a single from Mike Rooney (Carmel, NY/Carmel) (Carmel, NY / Carmel).  Chris Gili (Manorville, NY/Eastport-South Manor) (Manorville, NY / Eastport-South Manor) then stepped up to the plate and homered to tally three RBI's to solidify the win. 

Neil Pezzullo (Harwich, MA / Harwich) earned his first win as he struck out three batters on eight innings pitched to make his record 1-1 so far this season.

The Setters will be the home team as they play at Mercy College on Sunday at 1 pm.
