TAMPA, Fla.- The Setters were limited to four hits as the baseball team came up short against #3 Tampa 1-0 in the second of a three-game set with the Spartans. Pace falls to 0-2 on the season, while the Spartans improve to 9-2.
Chris Gili (Manorville, NY/Eastport-South Manor) (Manorville, NY/Eastport-South Manor) led the way for Pace went 2-for-3 in the game, collecting two of the Setters' four hits in the game. A pair of newcomers turned in solid efforts on the mound despite the one-run loss. Junior Robert Rizzitelli (Monroe, CT/Masuk) (Monroe, CT/Masuk) tossed six innings allowing one run on two hits, while striking out eight. Freshman hurler Ryan Mihalkovitz (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) tossed the 1 1/3 innings, allowing two hits, while Josh Garran (Old Tappan, NJ/Northern Valley Regional) recorded the final two outs of the eighth as he struck out one.
The Spartans and the Setters wrap up their three-game series on Sunday, February 24 at noon at Tampa Stadium.
