Football Falls to Stony Brook

STONY BROOK, N.Y.- The Pace University football team lost to the Division I FCS Seawolves of Stony Brook University 77-7 in non-conference action. The Setters fall to 0-2 on the season, while the Seawolves improve to 2-0.

The Seawolves got on the board early in the game as they built a 49-0 lead at halftime. Early in the fourth quarter, the Setters' defense forced a fumble as Tyler Owens (Salem, NJ/Salem) (Salem, NJ/Salem) made a key defensive play and the ball was recovered by Addison Casey (Eliot, ME/Marshwood) (Eliot, ME/Marshwood) deep on Stony Brook territory. Two plays later, running back Jashon Dawson (Passaic, NJ/Passaic) (Passaic, NJ/Passaic) scored on a two-yard touchdown run for the lone Setters points on the day. Dawson finished the game with 23 yards on the ground for the game.

For the Setters, Jordan Raynor (Browns Mills, NJ/Pemberton) (Browns Mills, NJ/Pemberton) completed 16-of-31 passes for 102 yards, while Patrick Lupfer (Mineola, NY/Kellenberg Memorial) (Mineola, NY/Kellenberg) caught five passes for 39 yards. On defense, David Lopez (Ozone Park, NY/Christ the King) led the Setters with 12 total tackles, five solo, while Owens totaled eight tackles in the game.

The Setters return to action on Saturday, September 15 for their home opener when they will host the University of New Haven at 1 pm in a Northeast-10 Conference match-up at Pace Field.
