Women's Volleyball Falls on Opening Day of Wilmington Tournament

WILMINGTON, Del.- The Setters dropped a pair of matches on the first day of the Wilmington University Tournament. Pace lost to host Wilmington 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 29-27) and fell later in the day to Indiana, Pa. 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-21). The Setters fall to 2-5 on the season, while Wilmington improves to 5-2 and Indiana, Pa. moves to 4-1.

In the opening match against Wilmington, freshman Kelsey Mazurek (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) (Easton, PA/Easton Area) recorded 10 kills along with two aces and finished with a .400 hitting percentage. Nora Rugova (Mt. Kisco, NY/Fox Lane) (Mt. Kisco, NY/Fox Lane) totaled 10 kills and 11 digs, while Elyse Rowland (Antioch, CA/Deer Valley) (Antioch, CA/Deer Valley) led the team with 15 digs. Brooke Speyerer (Winter Haven, FL/Lake Region) (Winter Haven, FL/Lake Region) posted a match-high 36 assists along with eight digs. Susana Verdugo-Del Real (Chula Vista, CA/Southwest) added nine kills for the Setters.

The Setters fell in their second match of the day to Indiana, Pa. as Sara Atai (Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) led Pace with nine kills along with nine digs and 11 assists. Rugova added seven kills and five digs, Speyerer finished with 16 assists and six digs.

Pace wraps up the Wilmington University Tournament on Saturday, September 8 as they will play Kutztown at 11 am and USciences at 3:30 pm.
