PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- The Pace University baseball team, ranked #8 in the latest NCAA East Region poll, fell to the Chargers of the University of New Haven 6-0 in the First Round of the Northeast-10 Conference Championship. The Setters fall to 29-19 on the season, while the Chargers improve to 25-17-1 and advance to the NE-10 Second Round on Friday.
New Haven starter Joey Royer limited the Setters to three hits in the game as he struck out four in a complete game effort. James Pjura (Shelton, CT/Shelton) (Shelton, CT/Shelton), Tyler Collins (Stamford, CT/Trinity Catholic) (Stamford, CT/Trinity Catholic) and Joe Solomeno (Holbrook , NY/Sachem East) (Holbrook, NY/Sachem East) each had singles in the game for Pace. The Chargers got a run in the opening inning and added three in the fourth. New Haven went on the score a run in the seventh and eighth.
For Pace, Neil Pezzullo (Harwich, MA/Harwich) (Harwich, MA/Harwich) got the start, as he tossed 6 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on 10 hits, while striking out three.
