Setters Cruise Past C.W. Post

WINTER PARK, Fla.-The Setters had 11 runs on 13 hits as Pace cruised to an 11-1 victory over C.W. Post in non-conference action. The Setters improve to 5-4 overall, while C.W. Post falls to 5-5 overall.

Pace exploded for four runs in the second inning on Patrick Chaputian (Sea Cliff, NY/North Shore) (Sea Cliff, NY/North Shore) two RBI's and a Chris Roemer (Ardsley, NY/Ardsley) (Ardsley, NY/Ardsley) single which scored Chris Gili (Waccabuc, NY/Eastport-South Manor) (Waccabuc, NY/East-South Manor). Pace lead 4-0 after two innings. C.W. Post got its only score of the day on Pace fielding error in the fourth.

Chaputian singled in the sixth to score Gili, and Tyler Collins (Stamford, CT/Trinity Catholic) (Stamford, CT/Trinity Catholic) scored on Bobby Horn (Stamford, CT/Westhill) (Stamford, CT/Westhill) walk in the seventh. In the eighth, Pace scored five runs on five hits as Roemer, Joe Lombardi (Briarcliff, NY/Briarcliff) (Briarcliff, NY/Briarcliff), and Gili all had runs batted in.

For Pace, Brian Sundberg (Westbury, NY/WT Clarke) tossed five innings, allowing three hits, one run, one walk, and two strikeouts. Edward Byrne (Yonkers, NY/Archbishop Stepinac) came in and tossed three innings, allowing one walk and two strikeouts to earn the save. Sundberg got the victory and improved to 1-1 on the season, and James Stone had the loss for C.W. Post. Stone fell to 1-1 overall on the season.

Pace return to action on Wednesday March, 14 against Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla. at 6:00 pm.
