Setters Fall to Adelphi, 74-54

Pleasantville, N.Y.- The Setters suffer their second loss of the season to the Panthers of Adelphi University, 54-74.  The Setters are 5-2 overall and 4-2 in the Northeast-10 Conference while the Panthers advance to 5-2 overall and 4-1 in the NE-10. 

The Panthers started with a 12-2 run to start the first five minutes of the game. The Setters came within five at 13:54 but were unable to hold it as they dropped by ten over the next five minutes.  The Setters bounced back once again with an 13-2 run to take the lead for the first time of the game.  They were unable to maintain it as Adelphi took the lead back to go into halftime up 36-32. 

The Panthers opened up the second half strong with a 18-2 run in the first eight minutes.  They continued to lengthen that margin and took their largest lead of the game, 62-37 at 7:42.  The Setters worked hard to come back before time ran out but were unsuccessful in their efforts.

The Panthers scored twelve more points than the Setters in the paint and four more off of turnovers.  They also finished shooting 50% from the field, as well as three point range and 63.6% from the free-throw line.  The Setters finished at 41.2% from the field, 33.3% from the outside and 52.6% from the line. 

Jessica Kitrys lead the Panthers with 28 points and seven rebounds.  Kelly Mannix put up 19 points, eight rebounds and two assists while Sade Jackson finished with 12 assists.

Despite the loss, Brittany Shields (Cold Spring, NY / Haldane) led the Setters with 13 points, seven rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block. Kera Bretney (Bridgetown, Barbados/Springer Memorial) (Bridgetown, Barbados / Springer Memorial) finished with ten points and four rebounds, Allison Cleary (New Windsor, NY/Cornwall Central) (New Windsor, NY / Cornwall Central) added nine points and Margo Hackett (Pawling, NY / Pawling) totaled eight points. 

The Setters will travel to LIU Post Saturday, December 8 for a non-conference match up at 1:30 pm.
