PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Senior Nora Rugova (Mt. Kisco, NY/Fox Lane) (Mt. Kisco, NY/Fox Lane) netted 19 kills as the Setters dropped a heartbreaker five set decision to the Chargers of New Haven. The Chargers took the first set 25-22, while the Setters even the match with a 25-17 win in set two. New Haven won set three 25-13, but Pace forced a decisive set with a set four 25-19 win. The Chargers took the match with a 15-11 win in the final set.
The Setters fall to 14-17 overall this season, while the Chargers improve to 22-1 and 13-0 in conference play.
Rugova added 11 digs and two aces, while freshman Megan Kurz (San Diego, Calif./Patrick Henry) (San Diego, CA/Patrick Henry) tallied 14 kills, 11 digs and two solo blocks. Brooke Speyerer (Winter Haven, FL/Lake Region) (Winter Haven, FL/Lake Region) recorded 40 assists, six kills, eight digs and two aces. Elyse Rowland (Antioch, CA/Deer Valley) (Antioch, CA/Deer Valley) added 27 digs, while Alyssa Marchino (Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst) totaled 10 digs.
The Setters return to action on Friday, November 9 as Pace will host Saint Michael's College in an NE-10 match at 7 pm at the Goldstein Fitness Center.
