Men's Basketball Comes Up Short to Southern Connecticut

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- David Eismeier (Burke, VA/Bishop O'Connell) (Burke, VA/Bishop O'Connell) scored nine points in a late Pace rally as the Setters came up short to the Owls of Southern Connecticut State University 84-75 in Northeast-10 Conference action. Pace falls to 3-3 on the season and 1-3 in the NE-10, while the Owls improve to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the conference play.

The game was close early, but the Owls jumped out to a seven point lead midway through the first half. The Setters battled back to cut the lead to one at 13-12 on a Jaylen Mann (Youngstown, OH/Liberty) (Youngstown, OH/Liberty) jumper with 11:19 left in the first half. The Owls stretched their lead into double figures as they took a 47-29 lead into the break.

Southern Connecticut added to their lead in the second half as they pulled ahead by as much as 25 points at 76-51 with 8:56 left in the game. The Setters rallied back with the help of some hot shooting from long range. Pace used a 24-8 run to pull back to within nine points with 1:15 to play in the game. Salvatore Vitello (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) connected on a pair of triples, while also hitting all three at the free throw line after being fouled on a three-point attempt. Eismeier added a three-point play midway through the run as well as two trifectas late in the run to pull the Setters back. Pace did not get any closer and came up short to the Owls.

For Pace, Eisemeier finished with nine points, while Mann totaled 10 points and seven boards. Keon Williams (Hackensack, NJ/Hackensack/Iona College) (Hackensack, NJ/Hackensack/Iona College) finished with 14 points and three rebounds, while Vitello tallied nine points, two assists and a pair of steals. Denzel Primus-Devonish (Riverdale, MD/St. John's College) recorded 11 points and seven assists

The Setters return to action on Saturday, December 1, as they will host the Golden Knights of The College of Saint Rose at the Goldstein Fitness Center on Pace's Pleasantville Campus at 3:30 pm.
