Setters fall to Dolphins in Northeast-10 Opener
PLESANTVILLE, N.Y.- Denzel Primus-Devonish (Riverdale, MD/St. John's College) (Riverdale, MD/St. John's College) totaled 16 points, three assists, and three steals as Pace fell to Le Moyne College 73-56 in Pace's Northeast-10 Conference opener. Pace drops to 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the NE-10, while the Dolphins improve to 1-0 overall, and 1-0 in conference play.
After being down six early in the first half, the Setters tied the game at nine on a Jonathan Merceus (Union, NJ/Union) (Union, NJ/Union) lay-up with 14:46 left. Le Moyne's Nate Gause connected on four three pointers to give the Dolphins a ten point lead 11:25 left in the first half. Primus-Devonish nailed a three to cut the lead to 22-15 on the next trip down the floor. Le Moyne added to their lead as they held a 47-23 advantage at the break.
The Setters made a run late in the game as Jaylen Mann (Youngstown, OH/Liberty) (Youngstown, OH/Liberty) hit a pair of triples in the second half, while Primus-Devonish converted a pair of free throws cut the lead to 13 with 1:37 to play in the game. The Dolphins held off the Setters as Pace fell in their conference opener.
For Pace, Mann added 11 points, and connected on three trifectas, while Keon Williams (Hackensack, NJ/Hackensack/Iona College) (Hackensack, NJ/Hackensack/Iona College) had eight points, and 10 rebounds. Merceus fell just short of a double-double with eight points, and eight rebounds, while David Eismeier (Burke, VA/Bishop O'Connell) came off the bench and added seven points, two blocks and eight rebounds.
The Setters return to action Tuesday November 20, as they will host the Yellow Jackets of American International College in an NE-10 match-up at the Goldstein Fitness Center on Pace's Pleasantville Campus at 7:30 pm.
