Shields Reaches 1,000 Career Points and Leads Team to Victory Over Adelphi

Pleasantville, N.Y.- Brittany Shields (Cold Spring, NY/Haldane) finished with a double-double of 26 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Setters to their sixth overall win.  Shields became the 25th woman in Pace history to reach 1,000 career points with her last field goal scored.  Pace advances to 6-1 overall and 5-1 in the Northeast-10 Conference while Adelphi drops to 2-6 overall and 1-5 in the NE-10. 

The Setters started off strong going on an 11-2 run in the first three minutes.  The Panthers attempted to lessen the margin but halfway through the first half, the Setters led 23-12 and soon after Pace had their largest lead in the half, by 13.  Adelphi was able to go on a run which left them down only four points with two minutes left before Pace finished the first half 36-29.

The Panthers were able to stay within seven points of the Setters through the first half of the second period.  The largest lead of the second half was in favor of the Setters with the final score of 70-59.

Jessica Kitrys (Parlin, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) had a double-double for the Panthers with a total of 16 points and 11 rebounds.  Shannon Flynn (Williston Park, N.Y./St. Mary's College Prep) had nine points and four assists while Kara Tancredi (Beacon, N.Y./Beacon) had eight points and a team high of five steals.  Sade Jackson (Hackensack, N.J./Aquinas) finished with ten points and five rebounds for the Panthers. 

Kerri White (Flushing, NY/Archbishop Molloy) (Flushing, NY/Archbishop Molloy) had 19 points for the Setters and a team high of four steals. Carol Johnson (New City, NY/Cardinal Spellman) (New City, NY/Cardinal Spellman) and Brianna Harris (Brentwood, NY/Mary Louis Academy) (Brentwood, NY/Mary Louis Academy) both had six rebounds apiece with seven points contributed by JohnsonMaral Javadifar (Flushing, NY/The Mary Louis Academy) had eight total points and seven assists in Pace's win. 

The Setters will host C.W. Post Friday December 9th at 7:00 pm in a non-conference match-up.  The Pioneers are 5-3 overall and 0-2 in the East Coast Conference.
