NEW HAVEN, Conn.- The Setters fell short to the Owls of Southern Connecticut 64-57 in Northeast-10 Conference action. Pace falls to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in the NE-10, while the Owls improve to 4-2 and 3-1 in conference play.
The teams battled even though the first part of the opening half as score would be tied at 12 midway through the half. The Owls took the lead as they would build a 23-15 lead with just over six minutes to play in the half. Pace rallied to cut into the Southern Connecticut lead as David Eismeier (Burke, VA/Bishop O'Connell) (Burke, VA/Bishop O'Connell) scored seven points in the final three minutes as the Setters would trail 27-24 at the break.
The Setters would come out strong to start the second half as they took the lead in the first minute on a pair of baskets by Kai Smith (Upper Marlboro, MD/St. Mary's Ryken) (Upper Marlboro, MD/St. Mary's Ryken). Pace would build a 44-37 lead but the Owls would rally to tie the game at 50. Southern Connecticut would take the lead as they opened up a five point lead at 58-53 with two minutes to play in the game. The Owls would hold off Pace down the stretch as the Setters would come up short to Southern Connecticut.
For Pace, Denzel Primus-Devonish (Riverdale, MD/St. John's College) (Riverdale, MD/St. John's) led the Setters with 13 points and five assists, while Delroy Daley (Bronx, NY/St. Raymond) finished with 10 points and six rebounds.
The Setters are back in action on Saturday, December 3 when Pace will travel to Albany, NY for a Northeast-10 Conference game against the College of Saint Rose at 3:30 pm.
