Pleasantville, NY- The Pace University men's basketball team lost today to Stonehill College by a score of 81-48 in a Northeast-10 Conference showdown. The Setters fell to 7-7 overall, and 3-6 in conference play while the Skyhawks improved to 11-3 overall, and 6-3 in the NE-10.
The Setters got off to a slow start going down 6-0 in the opening four minutes. However, the next few minutes of regulation would belong to Pace. By the 13 minute mark the Setters took the lead 14-10. Unfortunately that would start a 6-0 run for the Skyhawks allowing them to regain the lead at 16-14. The two teams would continue to trade points for much of the remaining first period. With five minutes to go Stonehill really turned things up going in to halftime. The Setters would finish the first period down by 11 points, 32-21.
The start of the second half picked up right where it left off. Stonehill would go on an 8-0 opening run to add to their lead, 40-22. Things would not get much better for Pace. They would finish the game 81-48.
Shinning for the Setters was Adrian Mills (Woodbridge, VA/Paul VI) with 16 points and two total rebounds. He moves within 67 points of earning 1,000 career points.
The Setters return to action Tuesday, January 11 when they face off against Saint Anselm in an NE-10 Conference showdown at 7:30 pm in Manchester, NH.
