Waltham, MA- The Pace University Setters lost Saturday afternoon to the Falcons of Bentley University by a score of 84-68. The Setters fell to 10-10 overall, and 6-9 in conference action while Bentley improved to 15-4 overall, and 13-2 in the NE-10.
The first five minutes of the game would favor Bentley by a small margin with back and forth play that would have the Falcons leading by only one point, 11-10. Things would continue to heat up as the Setters knotted things up at 22-all with 10 minutes to go in the first period. Unfortunately for Pace that was the closest they'd come to taking the lead in the first half. With back and forth play continuing throughout the rest of the period the Falcons would improve their lead to six at the break, 42-36.
The early minutes of the second half continued as the late minutes of the first had. Bentley went on a six point run before Pace would score their first second half basket. Things would only get worse for the Setters. With 10 minutes to go in regulation the Falcons would lead by as much as 16 points, 65-49. The rest of the game would play out this way. The Setters would also eventually fall by 16 points, 84-68.
Performing well for Pace despite the loss was Denzel Primus-Devonish (Riverdale, MD/St. John's College) (Riverdale, MD/St. John's College) with 23 total points, one rebound, and four assists. Also shining for the Setters was Adrian Mills (Woodbridge, VA/Paul VI) with nine points, three rebounds, and two assists.
The Setters return to action Wednesday, February 2nd when they matchup against NE-10 opponent Adelphi University at 7:30 pm in Pleasantville, NY.
