OUTDOOR TRACK OPENS THEIR SEASON AT THE
WAGNER INVITATIONAL
STATEN ISLAND, NY- The Pace Track & Field Team marked the
beginning of their 2008 Spring season on a cold and windy day at
Wagner Invitational. The Setters will be traveling to the
Osprey Invitational hosted by Stockton College in Pomona, NJ on
Saturday, April 5.
The men's team was led by Eric Chandaragga (Lawndale,
CA/Mira Costa) and Nick Molnar (Antioch,
IL/Brunswick) competing in the Long Jump. Chandaragga
placed twelfth with a jump of 5.24m and Molnar followed in
fifteenth place at 4.94m. The highlights of the meet
continued with the 4x100m relay team made up of Larry DePrimo (Ronkonkoma, NY/Connectquot), Rick Southard (Trumbull, CT/Trumbull), John Induisi
(Davie, FL/St. Thomas Aquinas HS) and Ruben Pagan
(Bellport, NY/Bellport) combining for a 46.33, finishing
in ninth place. Kency Gilet (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet)
also contributed a solid performance, taking fifteenth place with a
2:08.26 in a talented 800m run.
For the women's team, sophomore Safia McNeishie (Sharon
Hill, PA/Ridley) ran a 14.08, good for seventh
place. Her performance was followed by freshmen
Michele Tanzi (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) who finished
10th in the 800m with a time of 2:40.31 and
Sarah Rodriguez (Ossining, NY/Our Lady of Victory)
placed fourteenth in the same even, posting a time of
2:46.10. Senior Erica Young (Brooklyn, NY/West
Plains) started her season strong with a fourteenth place
finish in a strong 1500m field, running a time of 5:54.00
The Setters return to action when they travel to the Osprey
Invitational hosted by Stockton College in Pomona, NJ on Saturday,
April 5.
