NEW HAVEN, Conn.- The Pace University football team dropped a Northeast-10 Conference game to the Owls of Southern Connecticut State University 61-0. The Setters fall to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in the NE-10, while the Owls improve to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
Southern Connecticut took an early lead as Kevin Lynch tossed a 53-yard touchdown pass to Willie Epps. Rashard Slowley scored three first quarter touchdowns, two on the ground and one in the air from Lynch as the Owls led 27-0 after one quarter.
Lynch would toss a second quarter touchdown to Epps as Southern Connecticut led 34-0 at the break. The Owls would add to the lead in the second half as the Setters would drop their second conference game of the season.
Pace was led by Patrick Lupfer (Mineola, NY/Kellenberg Memorial) (Mineola, NY/Kellenberg), who finished with nine receptions for 62 yards, while David Lopez (Ozone Park, NY/Christ the King) led the Setter defense with 10 tackles.
The Setters return to action on Saturday, October 8 when they will host Assumption College at Pace Field at 1 pm.
