Pace Athletics to Host Second Annual LGBTQ Pride Hoops Night on Wed., Jan. 31st; Jim Stenerson to Receive Leadership Award

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Pace University Department of Athletics and Recreation will host the second annual LGBTQ Pride Hoops Night during the women's and men's basketball doubleheader on Wednesday, Jan. 31 against American International College. The women's squad gets the action started against AIC in the Goldstein Fitness Center at 5:30 p.m., while the men will tip-off the nightcap at 7:30 p.m.

The first 350 fans in attendance will receive a free Pride Hoops Night t-shirt. Additionally, halftime entertainment will feature a drag performance, as well as the presentation of this year's LGBTQ Leadership Award to Pace faculty member Jim Stenerson. Stenerson, the executive director of the Faculty Center for Innovative Teaching & Professional Development and co-advisor to the Gay-Straight Alliance student organization, has been a chief proponent for the LGBTQ community both at and beyond Pace University.

"Jim has been a leader, advocate and mentor to LGBTQ Pace students, faculty, and staff for his entire 45-year career at Pace," said Director of Athletics Mark Brown. "He's been an advocate for equal civil rights for decades and Pace would not be the supportive, welcoming and nurturing place if it wasn't for his tireless efforts."

Ticket prices for all basketball games are $8 for adults, $4 for non-Pace students, children, and senior citizens. Tickets are FREE for all Pace students, faculty and staff with Pace ID. Proceeds for the game will be donated to Center Lane, a local resource center for LGBTQ youth in Westchester County.
