PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Pace University Department of Athletics and Recreation has announced the hiring of
David Robinson as the new Head Cross Country Coach.
"In athletics there are many ways to look good but few in order to be good, said Robinson. "I am truly excited at the opportunity to serve Pace University because we have every resource to be good, and to do so in every sense of the word."
Robinson comes to Pace after serving as Head Boys Cross Country Coach at First Coast High School in Jacksonville, Fla. In his role at First Coast, Robinson coached the boys' team that competed in Florida's Class 4A Division, the highest division of high school competition in the state. In his time at First Coast, he coached the program to repeat appearances to the 4A District Championships in addition to breaking the individual school record in the 5K. He also served as an assistant coach for the track and field team, and was head coach of the girls' tennis team. Robinson also handled administrative responsibilities for the girls' cross country team at First Coast, including academic eligibility, medical clearance and meet scheduling.
Robinson was a four-year member of the Division I Lafayette College track and field team in Easton, Pa. In his time at Lafayette, he was an All-Patriot League performer, and was part of a team that broke the College's and Patriot League's 4x100m relay record. Robinson also earned Top-10 all-time performances in the 60m and 100m dashes. An accomplished student, Robinson earned the Paul Bernon Memorial Prize at Lafayette as the top student in the College's Anthropology and Sociology Department. Robinson was also a member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, All-Academic Team and Lafayette's Dean's List.
"We're excited to have David join the team at Pace and lead our cross country program to new heights," said Director of Athletics
Mark R. Brown. "He has incredible passion for the sport, works tirelessly at his craft, and is committed to guiding our student-athletes in competition, in the classroom, and in the community."
In addition to his coaching duties, Robinson taught 10th Grade Intensive Reading at First Coast High School for two years while serving as a Teach for America Corps member.
Robinson graduated from Lafayette College with honors in 2014 with a bachelor of arts in anthropology and sociology, as well as a minor in history. Robinson is a resident of New York, N.Y.
