Gelderman Breaks Goals Record as No. 11 Pace Women’s Lacrosse Drops Defensive Battle with No. 1 Le Moyne

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Junior Casey Gelderman (Farmingville, NY/Sachem High School East) scored two goals on Wednesday to improve her season total to 56, setting a new program single-season goal record in the No. 11 Pace University women's lacrosse team's 10-5 loss to No. 1 Le Moyne College in Northeast-10 Conference action at Pace Stadium.
 
RECORD-SETTING EVENING
- Gelderman entered the game tied for the program record of 54 goals, set last season by teammate Abby Haimson (Montville, NJ/Montville).
- Haimson came into Wednesday's contest just one goal behind Gelderman. She scored in Wednesday's contest, and has now tied her own previous record of 54 goals.
- With her goal, Haimson now has 69 points on the season, two shy of the team's record of 71, set by Haimson in 2016.
 
FIRST HALF
- Gelderman scored the first goal of the game at 21:59, giving her Pace's single-season program record of 55 goals on the season, and giving the Setters a 1-0 lead.
- Le Moyne's Vicki Graveline then scored back-to-back goals to put the visitors ahead, 2-1.
- Bryanna Fazio added Le Moyne's third goal to give the top-ranked Dolphins a two-goal advantage at the 9:54 mark.
- Junior Courtney Sulfaro (Shirley, NY/William Floyd) scored on a beautiful feed from sophomore Juliana Marcolini (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley), which was set up by junior Stephanie Chadnick (Brewster, NY/Brewster) as she crossed the restraining line, getting Pace back within a goal at 3-2 with 3:41 left in the first half.
- Nicole Delany put Le Moyne ahead by two again with the clock reading 38.8, sending the game to the half with a 4-2 score in favor of the Dolphins.
 
SECOND HALF
- Gelderman netted her second of the game just 25 seconds into the second frame to get Pace back within one.
- Graveline tallied her third of the day at the 27:57 mark to give the Dolphins a 5-3 edge.
- Molly McGuane added another for Le Moyne to put the Dolphins ahead by three at the 24:38 mark.
- Jacqueline Pardee scored at the 17:09 mark to make it 7-3, and then Sidney Hall netted one off a free-position attempt at 16:07 to put the Dolphins up by five.
- Junior Emily Ankabrandt (Scotia, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) halted Le Moyne's run at the 12:15 mark, getting the Setters back within four at 8-4.
- Haimson got on the board with 11:25 on the clock, getting the Setters within three goals.
- Fazio gave the Dolphins a 9-5 lead with 8:43 left in regulation.
- Graveline picked up another score for the Dolphins to give them a 10-5 lead with 5:20 left in the second half.

Goalkeeper Notes
- Junior goalkeeper Alissa Silvestri (Congers, NY/Clarkstown North) stopped 11 shots, but shouldered the loss.
- Le Moyne netminder Hannah George matched Silvestri with 11 saves.
 
SETTER STATS
- Gelderman led the Setters with two goals, three ground balls and three draw controls on Wednesday.
- Sulfaro, Ankabrandt and Haimson each scored as well. Haimson and Ankabrandt each scooped up a ground ball, while Ankabrandt also added two draw controls.
- Marcolini dished out an assist.
- Sophomore Michelle Antonio (Stony Brook, NY/Ward Melville) caused a team-high two turnovers and picked up a ground ball.
 
DOLPHIN LEADERS
- Graveline led all scorers with four goals on the evening. She also had four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
- Hall scored once and dished out an assist for two points.
- Fazio scored twice and grabbed a game-high five draw controls. She also added two ground balls.

WHAT'S NEXT?
- The Setters conclude the regular season on Friday, April 28, when they visit No. 18 Stonehill College in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup that will determine which team gets a First-Round home game in the NE10 Conference Championships. The opening draw is set for 7 p.m.
