Kings Point, N.Y. – The Pace University men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed at the United States Merchant Marine Academy Memorial Invitational on Saturday. Although the meet was not scored, the Setters saw solid results on both sides, including 10 wins for the Pace women.
Women's Results
Freshman
Annabel Keppel-Palmer (Kent, England/Maidstone Grammar School) once again led the women's squad with three individual wins, while also partaking in a victorious relay. She began the day by dominating the 200 IM, defeating the field by more than six seconds (2:17.02). She then tallied the fastest time in the 100-breast, coming in at 1:11.53. The England native's third individual win came in the 200-free with a time of 1:59.77.
Keppel-Palmer, who still has yet to lose a race this season, capped off her afternoon with a triumph in the 400-free relay. Keppel-Palmer, along with
Joana Krause Massaguer (Premia de Mar, Spain/Institut Premia de Mar),
Leigha Kosakowski (Selkirk, NY/Bethlehem Central), and
Jana Ciric (Nis, Serbia/Gimnazija "Svetozar Markovic") topped the field by more than eight seconds (3:42.65) for Pace's final triumph of the day.
Krause Massaguer, Kosakowski, and Ciric, along with
Marta Hasny (Kedzierzyn-Kozle, POLAND/II Liceum Ogólnoksztalcace im. Mikolaja Kopernika) also put together the top mark in the 200-medley relay (1:53.98).
Kosakowski added to her win total with a first-place finish in the 100-back, clocking in at 1:04.06.
Junior
Alexis Heiney (Ivoryton, Conn/Mercy) swept the diving events for the Blue and Gold. She began the day with a high score of 244.35 in the one-meter event, before notching a top mark of 263.48 in the three-meter. Both of Heiney's scores currently rank first in the NE10.
Sophomore
Margaret Triller (Glenmont, NY/Academy of the Holy Names) posted her first win of the season, registering the fastest time in the 200-back (2:20.64).
Morgan Franklin (Asheville, NC/A.C. Reynolds) was also victorious for the first time this year, clocking the top mark in the 500-free (5:32.03).
Men's Results
Junior
Daniel Galarza (Edison, NJ/John P. Stevens) and senior captain
JunWoo Moon (Tokyo, Japan/St. Mary's International School) were the most successful performers on the men's side.
Galarza put together a first-place finish in the 200 IM (2:03.43), while also placing third in the 200-free (1:48.92). Galarza's time in the 200 IM currently ranks fourth in the Northeast-10 Conference.
Moon touched the wall fourth in the 100-fly (53.97), and was part of a second-place finish in the 200-medley relay (1:38.70). He was also a member of a 400-free relay team that placed third with a time of 3:17.61—which is the second-quickest mark in the NE10 this season.
Moon was joined by
Alec Young (Loganville, GA/Archer),
Andresious Cyprianos (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe/Christian Brothers College) and
Filip Turecky (State College, PA/State College Area) in the 200-medley. He was then part of 400-free team with Cyprianos,
Brian Sosa (Bogota, Colombia/La Salle Bogota 170), and Galarza.
