PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Following a pair of shutout efforts last week, seniors
Hayley Pascoal (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Township) and
Drew Ribadeneyra (Maybrook, NY/Valley Central) were each honored with Northeast-10 Conference weekly awards on Monday. Pascoal was named the league's goalkeeper of the week, while Ribadeneyra earned defensive player of the week honors.
Pascoal posted a pair of clean sheets last week, extending a recent stretch of more than 300-consecutive minutes without allowing a goal. After registering three saves in a 0-0 draw against Southern Connecticut State, Pascoal put together seven stops (six in the second half) in a 2-0 shutout of Saint Michael's. Pascoal continues to lead the NE10 in both save percentage (.891) and goals-against average (0.57) this season.
Ribadeneyra, the reigning NE10 Defensive Player of the Year, was also a large factor in Pace's recent defensive dominance. In addition to playing all 200 minutes on the backline, Ribadeneyra also scored her first goal of the season against the Purple Knights. Ribadeneyra knocked in a free kick from just outside the box to give Pace a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute of the game.
The Setters, who are unbeaten over their last five NE10 contests, will be back in action on Wednesday night at American International College (7 p.m.).
