Zeoli Strikes Twice, Pascoal Records First Shutout as Pace Soccer Takes Down SNHU

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Senior Alyssa Zeoli (Hopewell Junction, NY/John Jay East Fishkill) scored twice, and junior Hayley Pascoal (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Township) recorded her first career win and shutout, both leading the Pace University women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Southern New Hampshire University at Pace Stadium in Northeast-10 Conference play on Sunday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sophomore Victoria Kealy (Nutley, NJ/Nutley) sent one down the middle of the field, allowing Zeoli to chip it over the keeper for the first goal only 28 seconds into the game.
-Pascoal anchored the Setters' defense, recording three saves in the initial segment to help secure the one-point lead heading into halftime.
- Junior Drew Ribadeneyra (Maybrook, NY/Valley Central) kept the ball from rolling down field, and turned and fired it in the direction of the net, where it found Zeoli for an easy header past the keeper for Pace's second goal of the game.
 
PACE LEADERS
- Zeoli scored both goals for the Setters, totaling five shots on the afternoon.
- Kealy and Ribadeneyra each recorded an assist.
- Pascoal made four saves in her first career shutout and victory, and helped the Setters improve to 6-4-2 on the year with the win.
 
SNHU
- Rene Hamel fired off three shots with one going on goal.
- Goalkeeper Paige Salmon saved five shots, but the Penmen falls to 2-4 in the defeat.

WHAT'S NEXT?
- The Setters will host American International College at Pace Stadium for an NE-10 matchup on Wednesday, Oct. 12. The game is set to kick off at 7 p.m.
- Due to poor weather conditions, Sunday's scheduled Pace Goes Pink event was postponed and has been rescheduled for Wednesday's game.
